Yu Deryck Denys Thomas founded Rakkatsu while into his 17th year of playing Professional Rugby in Japan. His years in Japan ignighted a burning desire to help fellow Pacific Island Sporting Professionals navigate the often traumatic life experiences of Living isolated in a foreign country.
In his current role as Forwards Coach/Player at Yakult Rugby along with a side tenure as Forwards Coach at Hakuoh University, a division2 College Rugby Program, Deryck has worked closely with both Professional Rugby Players and Administrations gaining extensive insght into the demanding roles and expectations on Sporting elite.
During his tenure as Head Coach, Deryck is responsible for advising athletes on a wide range of regulatory matters. These include technical infringements of Japan Rugby Union’s codes of conduct. Anti-doping policies, Japan’s criminal charges as well as university plagarism and breach of ethics.
Having graduated in Japan with a B.A in Business Administration, Deryck has dedicated 20years to mastering Japanese both in written and spoken form.
His initial experiences with language related setbacks, triggered a desire to properly equip himself with the language requirements to succour a successful career here in Japan. He currently holds an N1 advanced Japanese Language Proficiency Certificate that has assisted in certifying his IRB certified Level 2 International Coaching Certificate, Japanese Professional Athletes Nutritional Permit.
In 2022, Deryck helped spearhead the launch of Japan’s first Fiji Rugby Players Network. The inaugural launch help connect Japan based Fijian rugby players from all categories including Middle school, High school, University and Professional employment. The initiative sort to create a mentorship program that would help pair young up and coming rugby players with older established veterans to provide a support system that would help ease the isolating realities of life abroad. During his tenure, Deryck successfully influenced the commencement of Financial literacy discussions and the creation of active plans to assist members choose fitting investments to pursue.
ト－マス 優デーリックデニイ（デーリック）は、日本でプロラグビーを始めて17年目にRAKKATSU会社（RAKKATSU）を設立しまし た。デーリックは日本での辛い、厳しい生活を乗り越えたから、他の選手達を助けたいという 燃えるような願望があります。今後、様々なプロアスリート選手が来日しますが、日本で孤立し て暮らすという辛い日常生活とならないようにRAKKATSUがサポートします。
ヤクルトラグビー部のフォワードコーチ兼プレーヤー、更に関東リーグ2部ラグビー プログラムである白鴎大学のフォワードコーチとしての両仕事をやり研ぎました。 デーリックはプ ロラグビー選手及び管理部門の両方経験を持ち、スポーティングエリート世界での厳しい役割や期 待などについて広範な洞察を得られました。
フォワードコーチ在任中の時、デーリックが幅広い規制事項についてアスリート達へのアドバイスと いう責任を負っていました。具体的に、日本ラグビー協会の行動規範に対する技術的な違反や反 ドーピング政策や日本の刑事告発や大学の盗作と倫理違反など。
日本で経営学の学士号を取得して卒業したデーリックは、日本語の書き方や話し方を習得すること に20年を費やしてきました。
彼の初言語関連の挫折経験は、ここ日本で成功するキャリアを支援するために必要な言語を適切 に備えたいという願望を引き起こしました。彼は現在、N1 上級日本語能力証明書を取得しており、こ れがIRB 認定レベル2 国際コーチング証明書、日本のプロアスリート栄養士の認定に役立っていま す。
2022 年、デ－リックは日本初のフィジーラグビープレーヤーズネットワークの立ち上げの陣頭指揮 を執りました。最初の開催時では、中学、高校、大学、プロアスリート選手専門職を含むあらゆるカテ ゴリーの日本を拠点とするフィジーのラグビー選手を結び付けるのに役立ちます。この取り組みは、新進気鋭の若手ラグビー選手と実績のあるベテランをペアにして、外国での孤立した現実を緩和す るサポートシステムを提供するメンターシッププログラムを創設するものである。デーリックは在任 中、金融リテラシーに関する議論の開始や、会員が追求する適切な投資を選択できるよう支援する ための積極的な計画の作成に影響を与えることに成功しました。
